Penbrook Fire Company averages between 200-400 calls a year with around 30 of them being confirmed working fires.

Penbrook Borough is roughly a 1.5 square mile area that borders Harrisburg City and Susquehanna Township. The fire company currently operates a 2004 American LaFrance engine and a 1996 Freightliner/Darley Air Unit. These were housed in a barn as there were no fire houses available for apparatus.

The first equipment of the fire company were two hand drawn chemical wagons. This organization came about from a group of public-spirited citizens, who at this time recognized the vital need for fire protection for Penbrook. Citizens Fire Company #1 of Penbrook was organized on March 29, 1906.
